Neither William nor Rosy wanted to get out of the water.  He's perfect for her and she for him.  He spent a great deal of time throwing the ball.  And as they say, a tired dog is a happy dog.  The same may be said for eleven year old boys.

If you click on the YouTube view, you'll see it says "as seen on Our Nature Zone."  Some more publicity for us.

We have an Epiphyllum oxypetalum, otherwise known as "Queen of the Night" in our sunroom.  It has flowered regularly for years, but never as profusely as the past several days.  These plants only flower at night and the flower is past flowering the following morning.  Sometimes the strong perfumed smell gives it away, otherwise we have been known to miss the flowers.

We missed a couple the other night, but were ready for the next night's spectacular display of seven blooms.  These blooms are huge, and very beautiful.

I took photos both from inside the sunroom, and from the outside.

Above taken from inside - you can even see a reflection in the windows of my "Phoenix Rising" painting on the wall!

Taken from outside - (clearly showing "Phoenix Rising")!

The above photos were all taken on  August 11th, but the plant was not finished flowering - the following night it had five new blooms!  There were at least 14 blooms in three nights.  The strong, sweet, perfumed smell was overpowering!

This website is very interesting. http://www.phoons.com/QueenOfTheNight/  It shows a time lapse video of one of these blooms opening.  It also gives dates when blooms might be expected.  I guess my plant was right on time!   :eclove

How very beautiful!  Thank you --  I've never seen these flowers blooming where I live, but that doesn't mean they aren't here.

Beans, thank you for sharing your videos of such a lovely area.  William and Rosy sure had fun playing together!   :eclove

Madrona, those are lovely flowers and new to me.    You have such a nice variety of beautiful flowers and plants to enjoy.

Adrian, I hope the eagle will continue to improve and be able to return to the wild.   :nod2

This is a wonderful thread.  Thank you to everyone who share your photos and stories here.   :s*

Madrona, that is such a beautiful plant.  I had not realized that the plant only bloomed at night. How lovely to have so many blooms, they appear very large, what size were are yours  :question   'Phoenix Rising' is shown to good advantage on that wall.

I've been out of town and am just back, reviewing these amazing pictures and stories. Madrona, those flowers are incredible. They kind of look like water lily blossoms!

Two photos today.
First is of a Sandhill Crane family in the field close to me.

Second is a shot I took from my workplace Saturday night. This storm produced a tornado about twenty miles north of this location.

That is two extremes Dizzy.  :eceek. Both great pictures.  Love seeing the sand hill cranes.

Hope not too much destruction to property from the tornado.

Adrianmn: seems like a fast recovery for the eagle. So happy it was found just barely in time it seems.

This little guy almost looks like a cartoon character with that smile on his face, but he's real.

Here's a link to my Flickr set with more pictures of him.
