I bought an I phone yesterday afternoon and this morning I set it up.  Glad to say I was able to figure out the Evil Safari and even managed to login to ONZ using the teensy keyboard.  Got the forum and the cam (without chat) bookmarked now.  Sent texts.  Got texts!  Took pictures and emailed them, awful as they are (especially that one of me which looks like a hubcap portrait).  Played with the ringtones (why no birdsongs?).  Brought it to the nail salon and almost dropped it in the foot-bath.  Ran the battery down--

:whistle

It's happily charging now.

What a great toy!

Haven't d/l any apps yet...  there is one that identifies bird and has birdsong.  For sure will get that one.  And I'll figure out how to make my ringer a birdsong.  Maybe I'll get a red-tailed hawk cry....  that should get my attention when it rings.

That will get more than your attention. Wonder how many times you will look skyward first?

It will fool me every time.  I have birdsong on my PC... just have to figure out how to add it as a ringer tone.  I don't think I want any games.

Congratulations beans. I love my iPhone and iPad also. I probably don't use the iPhone as much as I would have done had I not had the iPad. I've discovered a fun app which is free (or if you buy it no ads) called Draw Something.. you draw a picture and your friend has to guess it, then they send you a picture you have to guess. It's not competitive, just silly fun. I also like the word game, I think it's called Word with Friends - it's like scrabble.

After several tries, I managed to set up an apple ID and purchased ibrd Explorer Pro for 99 cents.  However, it is 60 MB and I cant d/l it to my Iphone.  I need a wireless connection.   :mgritted  Perhaps when I get home I will be able to connect my Iphone to my wireless ISP.

Took the dog for a walk, made dinner, ate dinner, had a glass of wine.  Came back to Iphone and figured out how to connect to our friend's wireless network.  So now I have the app and it is terrific!

I've had my iphone for a couple of weeks.  I downloaded the PhotoBucket App.  It was easy to copy the image code, but how does one paste it?

Searching the Net, here's what I found:

I'm not going to try this tonight, but I will probably experiment in the next few days.

Beans, you can go to iBooks store, search iPhone users guide. Download free iPhone users guide by Apple. There are also other guides, though not all free. It should be a good resource for you.

When you touch your iPhone screen and get a blue cursor press it and you will see paste, press it and what you have copied will paste.

I think we don't need a separate iPhone topic as we already have iPhone/iPad discussion and self help topic. Maybe our posts can be moved there?

Thanks, NancyM.  Glad you got the app.
I have had the Peterson one for a while, but often seem to forget to use it when out.  I try to remember what I saw and then look in my bird book in the car!  :eclol  old habits....

But it has also come in handy!  :nod2

emc is having a problem posting the smileys that are on the Forum. Could all those with iPads and iPhones test them to see if you can post a smiley? The problem seems to have come since the Forum update with the new video feature.

I am writing this on the iPad and here is a smiley

It works for me. emc, I know this is not a solution, but what happens when you type in the shortcut, i.e. for the smiley I posted, type : thumbup: without the space after the first colon?
