Nest #9 West Carmichael - eaglet Niner

Yes, wren, i think you are correct in where the nest is situated.
There are three spots to view this nest from, & all are far & difficult.
& add to this the branches moving up & down & side to side in the wind!
i had to time my fotos for when there was the most nest exposed!
Yes, this is the good side!
All three other sides are wooded!

After work i took Dooki for his bike ride.
As we were biking down the road i could hear the eaglet from Nest #9.
Suddenly i realized i was hearing not one, but TWO eaglets!!
i biked closer & tried to listen for the separate calls.
Sure enought, i was hearing two screeps!
Then i saw an adult fly over, heading for the nest!
The rate of the calls increased!
DEFINITELY two eaglets here!
i wonder how they decide who gets the fish.
The screeped away til the adult left, then it got quiet.
i tried to spot them, but i had no luck.

Yay  Booni! this nest is full of surprises! The trickiest to see, for sure. But not so difficult to hear! I can hear some of those calls from my house!

i am finding it comforting that i can hear the two Nest #9 eaglets loud & clear from everywhere i am in my home!
i took Dooki for a walk there in the early evening with my binoculars to see if i could see them.
One eaglet was definitely branching!
& i could hear them both calling.
AT one point an adult circled over & the intensity of the calling increased!
As i watched, the other adult flew in with food & you should have heard the racket!!!  
Afterwards, i saw wings, & the other eaglet branching again.
i gotta get my camera back there, now that i can spot the eaglets there.
It did my heart good to see life continuing on this nest....

i am greatly relieved & very excited to report that from my pillow this morning, i am still hearing two distinct calls coming from Nest #9! 
There is a higher, & then a lower pitched one.
They both sound healthy & vigorous!

Hmmmmm.....  
Do i have news???  
Do i EVER have news!!!!!  

So, yesterday i took Dooki for a swim & while he was in the water & chewing the tennis ball i searched all the water side perch trees for Mum & Dad.
i could not see them.
i could also not see any eagles fishing from Sandstone Point, which i often do.

 

So, we biked back home.
i came across Sheila talking to some neighbours on the road!
Then i passed Doug talking to two other neighbours.
i had something to tell him, so i stopped.
i think the neighbours were consoling him about Phoenix.  

i told him what i wanted to tell him, & we discussed eagle things, & then he mentioned that one of the Nest #9 eaglets was on the ground!!
Since wednesday!  
What???
& nobody told ME???
So, i took the quickest route to get to where the eaglet had been spotted.
No sign of them.
i took Dooki back home & called the people who live next to the nest & got a description of where the eaglet had been, & permission to look for them on their property.
i left Dooki with his dinner & a treat & hoped he would not miss me when i took off on the bike to have another look.
i bushwhacked up & down the whole block of the nest tree.
But found no body.
Back home i went.
i found someone had left me a message on my answering machine, saying the eaglet had been on the road all day, & they had last seen them at 3:30.
It was now 6pm.
So i gave up.

This morning, i headed out on my bike with Dooki & my camera, thinking i would check out what the eaglets were up to on Nest #6/7.
i turned down the road to head there, & look what i found!!  
Tears sprang to my eyes!
i couldn*t believe it!!
What a sight for sore eyes & an aching heart!!
Is it possible to fall in love with more that one eaglet???
i can assure you that it is possible indeed.

Okay, be still my fluttering heart!!
i parked Dooki in the shade & unpacked my camera.
i walked slowly down the road, with my head down & looking away from the eaglet.
They just stood there & watched me.
i set up my camera & got this foto.
Oh, my am i in love!!!

While i stood & watched, the eaglet wandered off a ways into the shade.
The way they walk is hilarious!!
They put their head down, & lean forward, & stomp stomp stomp, off they go!
