It sounded like a dog in the neighborhood to me. When my dog is out after dark, he makes that weird bark at intruders, such as racoon and opossum. He does it all the time.

I heard dog barking earlier in video also, and the other sound like a dog growling. But really loud, or really close to microphone.

I am so glad you are doing eagle sounds.  big grin

Strange vocalizations from nest #4.

After Trimblet flew from the nest (not her first flight; she had been flying for at least 3 days), one of the parents circled low over her, then returned to the babysitting tree and made these very strange sounds.
The sounds lasted for several minutes.
The parent seems to be broadcasting the sound all around, not to a single target. The eaglet is in a tree to our right, the road where the traffic sounds come from is to our left.
Some of the movement is the wind shaking the tree, but much of it is from the hand-held camera.
This video is also posted on the Nest #4 thread.

I don't know much about bird sounds, compared to many of our chatters, but those sound more like a smaller bird, not an eagle, to me.   puzzled

I know, Tiger... These are unlike anything I've heard from eagles - except for the broken-up trills I heard at Shingle Spit while two pairs were circling each other and establishing their territories' boundaries. One eagle, a male, was making a sound that was akin to this, but more rhythmic.

But it was clear that this sound was coming from the Nest #4 parent we're seeing in the video... it was actually a bit louder than appears on this video. Some parts were quite piercing.

Isn't this fun?

Wow wrennie!
WICKED cool vocalizations!
It is clear, indeed, that these sounds are coming from the Eagle.
Will you be able to figure out whether this was the Mum or the Dad?
Thanks for capturing them, & for adding them to this topic!

Sparky recorded this video with an interesting vocalization, a crop grunt!
Hear it very clearly at 2:56 into the video.
i believe the sound is made by the Eaglet lying down, David?
Thanks for recording this Sparky!

Lots of squeeeeing & oinking in this video clip.
Also a good example of *temper tantrum* vocalizations.
Interesting calls from Mum when she lands in the Babysitting Tree!
Thanks Sparky!

This is the video Sparky made of Alexandra leaving the Nest for the second time today.
At 15 seconds into the video, David makes a sweet sound to her.  heartssmiles
Kinda heart breaking, to hear & see him, actually.
He seems quite puzzled & upset by her departure.
At 50 seconds in, he kind of whistles to her.

This is the video Beans made of Alexandra*s first fledge & return.
Thanks Beans!  heart

At around 5:20 into the video, David spots Alexandra doing a flyby, then we see her fly from right to left.
At about 5:27 into the video David starts screeping, making the sound that they make when an adult is bringing in food, but it is Alexandra he is announcing.
She lands on him & they tussle.
He goes into submission for a long time after that.
Poor fella.
He was just happy to see her again!  sad
