Welcome to the discussion thread for the 2010-2011 season of the Hornby eagles.  Please feel free to discuss the eagles and what you see on the nest in this thread - plain screenshots or links to videos from the broadcasts are welcome here also.

We expect Mom and Dad Hornby to arrive back on Hornby Island any day: October 2 is the day they are usually spotted in their territory near Doug and Sheila Carrick's home, and they usually visit the nest within a couple of weeks after that (see Doug's Timetable:  http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?topic=38.0).

This will be the 22nd year of nesting for Mom and Dad Hornby. Answers to many basic questions about the nest and about Mom and Dad can be found in the Reference Center of this forum: http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?board=26.0

Pins and needles awaiting their return. I was glued to the cam since it came on line but was not able to post on the forum last year because of animated smilies. These trigger a migraine headache within seconds that can last for days. This year I got a brainstorm of covering the left portion of my monitor screen where these creatures live while posting. Now all I have to worry about are those inbeded in posts.

This promises to be an excellent viewing year. Lets enjoy!

HI Blue Eyes, welcome!

Another way to stop any animated smilies is  - after the page loads - hit the Esc button on your key board - that stops the action.

Blue Eyes, you can also stop the animation.  Go to this link for info on how to do so.  You are not the only person to have this problem. And we try to limit the moving of anything here as much as possible.  Sorry your migraines last so long. That's awful.

emc and NancyM. Oh Happy Day! Thanks for the information. It works like a charm as long as I remember to press Esc before I look at each page. I am a happy camper now.

This might be the day Ma and Pa return.

"Brave" birds, as long as there aren't any eagles at the nest!   lol

Typos, thanks for the photos.  I wonder if Mom and Dad may initially go to one of their 'other trees' before heading here  question

I'm hoping we'll find out if Mom and Dad return to the 'perch' trees first.   smile

Typos, could you please give me the link you're using to see the nest, the one that has "USTREAM live" in the upper right hand corner.  The one I have has WILDEARTH.TV in a box, which blocks part of the rotten trunk.

Thanks!  And thanks for the screen caps.  smile

the screen caps were done earlier today while we were temporarily waiting for the cam to be re-set on its regular page .
the cam view is now coming from and thru our home base, wildearth.tv and the link below is the one embeded on the hornbyeagles.com web site.

http://www.hornbyeagles.com/chatpage.htm

or  go direct to cam/chat,from the tab along the are just above the forum posts, under your name and the banner area, second from the right "webcam", beside logout.
