Ground Observations 2008-2009 - the Hope Season

Doug*s Canada Goose egg - july 29 2009
He found it in a creek on the eagle beach, after a crow flew away from it.
It is almost as big as his hand!
Some people thought one like this may have been in the nest, & Hope was playing with it.

Today i was biking by the nest as it was getting dark just after 5pm.
i looked up & an eagle was on the nest.
It looked as tho they were digging in the nest, as their tail was bobbing up & down.

Mum & Hope July 17 2009 10:12:20 AM
Hope was in the nest by herself when Mum came flying in from our right.
Hope started to mantle, & then realized Mum had no food.
Mum flew over Hope*s head & landed on the stump.
Hope then started jumping & flapping & screeping all over the nest, trying to get Mum*s attention.
Turned out there was something in the nest that Hope wanted to eat & she wanted Mum to feed her!

Hope is pestering Mum here still.
Look at her neck feathers all ruffled up like a big tough girl eagle.

Okay.
So, since i haven*t any fresh fotos to share with you, i*ve been working on this fantasy i have of getting back to all the fotos & videos i have from Hope*s fledge day!
It took me two whole evenings to go thru all of them & make notes of the best ones.
i took a lotta fotos that day.  :nod2
So last night i dug up some pertinent seek points to go with the fotos.
Cast your minds back to july 21.
It was a hot summer day & the sun came up waaaaaaaaaay earlier than it does now.
i was up with the alarm at 4:30 so that i could have coffee & watch the nest a bit before heading out to work.
While we all watched, Hope flew up to the wide angle camera & out of sight!
But we could still hear her.
Now, go back to that day with a seekpoint made by our snookums.
Turn down your speakers or put cotton in your ears!
& prepare to laugh out loud!
p.s. AJL i think i hear your mystery bird in this clip when Hope is lying down in the nest!

:heart Thanks Barb; that brought a smile to the heart (and a tear to the eye) -- What a girl! (YES, the mystery bird was singing!  :eclol )

So Booni, do you think Ajl's mystery bird of the current nestover viewing is Hope?  Oh, and  yes, I did cry.  :heart
