Ground Observations 2009

Okay, so it*s been driving me crazy.
Those nicks on Mum*s wing feather tips...
i KNEW i*d see those sometime last season, & used them as a way to tell Mum from Dad in some of my fotos.
i*ve been thru all my fotos, looking for them, but do you think i could find them in any of my fotos???  :ecnono

So, today i went to the Co-Op to pick up the two framed fotos i entered in the Group Show that they featured there all of december & january.
i figured, what the heck?, anyone can enter, & they said i could bring in two fotos, so i did.
Well, they took all that down now to make room for the new stuff for the february show, which i took fotos of for you today & will post about later.
So we had to go in & collect our stuff from the Group Show.
i was looking at my framed fotos when i got home, to remind me which ones i*d entered, & what caught me eye?
Mum*s feather nicks!!
Yaaayyyyy!
This foto is from a whole series of Hope in the nest watching Mum fly in which hopefully i*ll get around to posting one day...

Click foto, then click the larger foto for the huge size.

These are three videos i took after the herring spawn in 2009, showing the action on the beach in front of the eagle nest.
Click on each foto to play the video.

Okay, i*ve just found some videos i had stored on Photobucket from the 2009 nesting season.

Here, i am standing on the beach in front of the cabin to the left of the blue roof house.
The Big Rock is right behind me.
These people own the nest tree property, & have very kindly never developed it at all!!!
When i first started photographing the nest, this is where i spent a LOT of my time.
One day i went roaring down there & set up my camera & started photographing, only to realize that the cabin now had occupants!
i was so wrapped up in what i was doing that i didn*t even notice!   :blush
Good thing they turned out to be really nice people.
Here is a video of Dad on the edge of the nest trilling, then flying to the Peters*s Tree.

Now, the webcam was down the day Echo hatched, so Doug made some dvd footage.
i played the dvd on my computer, & made videos of the screen playing the footage.
Part three.
This looks like Mum feeding Hope while Echo is escaping his eggshell.

part four.
Echo is out of his shell lying down, while Hope bobbles beside him, & Mum stands on the edge of the nest.

Ah Booni, THANK YOU!!!

We are so lucky, blessed, grateful and in awe of these videos.  It is one amazing thing to watch from nest view and now we see in living color and motion the view from the beach?  That is so great.  You are so great!  I wondered where you were last evening and now I know.  You were making our day!!

Big hugs and much love,
Rajame  :heart

Gee, Boonib, I am almost speechless. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see the footage of Echo's hatching. How can a silly little bird hatching cause me to cry like a baby?

Simply...thank you!

OMG!!!   Booni, your photos and videos, along with the stories they and you tell, are such a beautiful gift to us.  We are so lucky that you take the time to share your works and words with us.

And to see Hope and Echo, oh, what a lovely (yet, as we know, somewhat bittersweet) treat.  The feeding of Hope, so gentle and so amazing as Echo joins the family, is just so special.  My thanks to Doug for sharing the recording, and to you for bringing it to us.

Now, to get my tissues.....

Thank you Booni, for those special pictures of our sweetheart. :s*
