Ground Observations 2009

Wasn*t that fun boys & girls?
What???
Your ears are bleeding?
But wasn*t it WORTH it??   :mhihi

Okay, so, since i was on the way to work anyway, i moved a little faster so that i*d have time to stop at the nest on the way & get some fotos of Hope on the wide angle camera in the beautiful sunrise.
Fortunately my work that day was a little flexible.
So flexible that i never even showed up!
Here is what i found when i got to the nest at just before 6:44am.
Isn*t she magnificent??

Of course, nothing escapes our young eagle-eye.
Even tho i was across the street in the yard in front of the blue roof house, Hope spotted me!

Not seconds after spotting me, she also spotted a bird!
A Red Shafted (Northern) Flicker?

i think she was getting a little drowsy up there in the morning sun.
Here you can see her nictitating membrane.

Nancy, i took so many fotos that day.
i posted a few at the time.
The next day i took more, & on & on til the eagles left.
i*ve gotten so behind on posting all my fotos.
& this stash has been particularly daunting because there are so many to wade thru to find the good ones.
Now i*m kinda glad i still have them to delve into.
