I spoke with Maj this morning and MARS is very busy today with new patients, as well as two more seal pup rescues (one was underway).  :eceek

She said that Niner and Brig are doing very well. They have been introduced to Rebecca (the Quadra eaglet) and are fine with her.  All three will be going into a larger outdoor enclosure.  Let the fun begin! :eclove

Niner, Brig and Rebecca...we have the beginning of MARS Eagles Teen Summer Camp!!!   :biggrin6

Planned activities will include:

Wing-flapping and "Got Lift?"  (muscle building)

"Who-can-eat-the-most?" contests  (strength building)

"Can we go swimming yet?" screeping  (vocal exercises)

"Talons are Not for Tickling!"  (using the weapons you have)

PJ Parties under the Stars   (orientation to the night sky)

"Beaking for Fun or Fighting"  (defensive and offensive maneuvers)

"How to Clean a Nest"  (housekeeping skills)

"Ways to Scare Other Eagles"  (learning to defend territory)

"Looking with an Evil Eye"  (learning to scare humans and other bothersome creatures)

It's rather like a Hogwarts for Teen-age Eagles.   :chuckle

I went out to Mars yesterday to give a donation in memory of Pheonix and Maj, who knows my sister, gave my sister and my granddaughter and I a quick personal tour.  She let me take pics of Brig, Niner and Rebecca as well as the new seal pup rescued yesterday which I will try to post later when I get back to Langley!  Thanks Maj for taking time out of your extremely busy schedule!

Received two great photos from MARS today to share. The first one is of Brig from yesterday, being held by Animal Care tech Reg.

What a beautiful baby!

Next photo is of Niner, again taken yesterday, in the new flight pen. I think I am in love all over again. I am so thrilled for these two eaglets.

Thank you Maj at MARS for sending these along to keep us informed of their progress.

Thanks for posting the photos, birdvoyer.

Brig has a nice fluffy hairdo (no critters there) and looking bright-eyed but calm.

I am fairly new to photobucket so I hope I have done this right!  Pictures from MARS that I took yesterday.  Sorry the pics of the juvie's are a little blurry, I didn't want to use my flash and scare them and I was just a tad excited to see them so was shaking a little too.  It was wonderful of Maj to show us around.  My granddaugher fell in love with the little UFO's (song sparrows maybe)!  The little seal pup was exhausted but was so adorable.  The young eagles were sooo beautiful.  I also am posting a picture of the quiet room that all birds stay in for their first 24 hours.  Niner is the solo eaglet and Brig and Rebecca are on the perch.  Also a picture of Maj with me and my granddaugher!

eta: I put a space between the pics, easier to see them. hope  you don't mind. emc

Thank you for posting the pictures you took at MARS, Lovethebabies!  What a treat to be able to go there, meet Maj and see the birds and seal!   :ecsmile   What a special day for your granddaughter.   Wow!

The apparent size difference between Brig and Rebecca shows up on the perch shots...if my eyes aren't deceiving me!  Niner must want a little "me" time away from the others... :eclol

Very nice pictures received from MARS, Birdvoyer. Thank you for posting them here for all of us to see.   :ecsmile  It's nice to be able to keep up with what is happening with "our" eagles.

When you see Reg holding Brig.....it just shows you how big those babies are - their feet and head are not to mess with....beautiful upclose shots! :ecsmile
