i*ve been seeing this female Spotted Towhee since the first week of september.
Look!
She has NO tail feathers!
Didn*t stop her from leaping to the top of this huge Sunflower, however.
i would like to get better pictures of her, but i don*t see her very often.

i next to never leave the Island, but i had to, this day.
It was a lovely day!
Got to the far side of Denman & there was a long wait.
There was a rainbow!

Happy to be heading home again, & in the line up for the next ferry, i spot dots on the water to my left & go investigate on this sunny day.
Sunny & raining, too.

This Gull was lying down on top of a floating item like a tire with styrofoam inside.

A couple of Scoters & the Gull were getting at the exposed edibles on this other floaty item.

i think of Scoters as large Birds, but they sure are not, compared to this Gull.

Pretty pretty Mew Gull.
To me, they bob like corks on the water.

Love the bow wave & the look of the water in all these.

Such bizarre-looking Birds.

While i was photographing Mr. Em on the wide angle camera after the Polar Bear Swim, i noticed this beauty in a Tree nearby.
i was trying to photograph them but it was too dark & i was getting frustrated so i started a video.

We were walking on Tribune Bay when we heard sounds that i at first was thinking were Canada Geese but then i plugged in my brain & realized they were Trumpeter Swans!
Eight of them.

The Violet-green Swallows are back!
i*ve seen as many as eight of them, zooming around way up in the air, catching bugs.
Then the males land on the Bird boxes & poke their heads in the hole.
The whole time they are making this lovely chittering sound.
Yesterday i saw a female land on the roof of the box, while the male was at the nest box hole.

In the Sun light you can really see the gorgeous colours he is named for.

While i was photographing Mr. Violet-green Swallow, i could hear a huge flock of Birds flying over.
i spotted them just in time to get a foto before they went behind the Trees.
i thought they were Snow Geese, but they are not.
This is just a small section of the huge flock.
i zoomed in as close as i could go for identification.

The Birds are bathing in my fountain again!
i cleared some Daylilies out of the way that block my view when they get tall.
i spotted this lovely yellow Bird checking out the fountain & then in he went!
i was noticing that patch of orange on the head.
Would he give me time to get my camera?
i have never seen why they are named orange-crowned.

He was really going for it in there so i started a video.

i*ve been seeing the Robins bathing as well, & a bit later this same day, was able to video the male having a good long bath.
