It had been extremely windy & the Wind had eased a bit, but it was still really blowing into shore at Grassy Point.
i was biking home & found our Eagle pair all cozy together down in the greenery of The Peters* Tree!

The big Wind & bright mid-day Sun made for very dramatic fotos!
There was lots of blinking of the nictitating membranes of the eyes.

Mr. Em has eaten.
He has food stuck on his shiny yellow beak & his crop is a bit full.

On my way home on my bike, pedaling through the neighbourhood, FINALLY i spot an Eagle!
But who IS this Eagle?
They have a dark patch on the top of their head & dark markings on the tail!
Is this a sub-adult & not one of our Eagles at all?
While i am photographing, another Eagle flies overhead & inland.
This Eagle watches, but there is no other reaction.
A pair?

The Eagle turns towards the water & i discover this is actually Mr. Em!
You can see the curlicue in the corner of his beak.

So, Mr. Em has been eating something that has stained his tail & the top of his head.
Here he is, looking back towards The Babysitting Tree.

His crop doesn*t look that full, but he has food stuck to his beak.

The staining on his tail feathers.

He keeps looking back like this.

i continue on my loop through the neighbourhood & find another Eagle.
i almost don*t stop when i see they are perched in this really hard to photograph spot.
This Eagle has a very stained tail too.

Fortunately, the Eagle turns to the light once in a while, so i just have to wait & be ready.
Wow, the feathering of the face is red with blood!

This is Em!
So that*s who Mr. Em was keeping an eye on so carefully from The Peters* Tree.
& likely it was her who flew over him perched where he was.

They both must have been eating something that is fresh enough to leave all this blood on Em*s face.

When i arrived to photograph whoever it was in The Peters* Tree, i noticed motion out of the corner of my eye.
It looked like a leaf falling, but then i spotted movement on the trunk of this Tree.
i tried getting fotos, but wasn*t fast enough.
i decided to do a video instead.
