We kept driving around, looking for Herring Spawn & Eagle action.
Out in the Whaling Station Bay neighbourhood is a good place to look, so we went there on this sunny day & found a whole slew of Eagles of all ages who had been eating Herring, & they were displaying themselves in perfect light!

Okay, back now to the little bit of Herring Spawn that happened this year.
Here*s Mr. American Wigeon again, in the lovely spawn-coloured water at Sea Breeze Lodge.

Next day we went down to Hidden Beach to see what we could see & we found lots of Eagles of all ages at Sandstone Point.
There were also Otters, but i didn*t get any fabulous fotos of them.

Later this day we go along Anderson Drive, checking out all the beach accesses, to see what we can see of the Herring Spawn action there.
We find a flock of Surf Scoters!
In with them are other Birds, too.

i was spotting Long-tailed Ducks in there!
So i was trying to get fotos of them.
Usually when i see a Long-tailed Duck, we are in a boat & they are flying away from us.
Here*s a female.

Here are a pair of them & the Mew Gulls are eating Herring Roe that has been attached to seaweed.

This has a nice assortment, including a White-winged Scoter in the lower left corner.

nubchai/Sandy, we have two Eaglets!

Every time i am out on my bike i spin through the Nest neighbourhood, hoping to catch something interesting.
On sunday afternoon, i found Mr. Em on The His & Hers Tree, looking out at the water.
Then he took off & flew way out over the water.
i watched him dive down at the water to grab something, & he went IN the water!
He was there long enough for me to get off my bike, take off my helmet, & unpack my camera from the saddle bag, but just as i started to focus, he took off out of the water & headed straight to the Nest.
It was 15:45, & there is a video of him delivering at that time.

Most of the time i see a white head in the Nest & that is about it.
i keep hoping to spot an Eaglet.
On this day, even though it is cloudy, it is quite warm.
Look how hot it is, up there on the Nest.

A bit later that same day, & it is still hot.
i went down to the shore & spotted Mr. Em on the beach, watching for Midshipmen.
A neighbour says  the Eagles steal them from the Crows!
i try getting fotos of him, but even though it is cloudy, there are heat waves coming off the shore, making all my fotos blurry.
