Yesterday i was biking down the hill from Ben*s Cafe at the Hall & i heard Em calling from Hidden Beach!
So i pulled in & parked & tried to spot her from the little park there.
i could hear which Tree she was in but i couldn*t SEE her.
There was another Eagle calling from the Wiig territory & she would call in reply.
i went down to the beach to see if i could look up & spot her & there she was!
i*m not on the good side of the light, but the fotos turned out pretty good anyway.
Here she is, calling in reply to the Wiig Eagle.

i went back up the hill to the Park to see if now i could see her from there.
i went round & round, looking up & finally caught a glimpse of her, but she is blocked by branches.
i hear the Wiig Eagle call so i started the video & got lucky!
She has SUCH a distinctive call!
i heard it over & over.
She sounds more like a young Eagle than an adult, at times.

She still has those two distinctive black dots on the underside tips of her tail feathers.

Would like to know how she is doing. Does it appear she fed well? The reason for my question is because I read that there were some areas where the salmon did not return in mass as in other seasons. Of course it causes concern for all that benefits from the salmon runs. Thank you.

Next i went to Grassy Point, but i saw nothing there & continued on to the end of Harwood to check out the stairs.
Just as i was passing the Niner perch Tree on the road & water there, i saw an Eagle circling & landing in the water side perch Tree.
So, there is an Eagle home in all three neighbouring territories now.
i could hear Gulls calling, so i went to investigate.
i*ll post what i found at the stairs another time.
For now i want to focus on my Em sightings.

i got a call late afternoon from cali, telling me she could hear Em, but couldn*t find her on the cam.
She was guessing Constables* Fir or The Peters* Tree.
So i went out on my bike to look.
Sure enough, she was in The Peters* Tree, low down, in the greenery, where it is hard to get photos of her.
i go down to the water side of the Tree & get a better view of her from there.
First foto is a test.
Too dark, so i adjust my settings.
But i like the light in this one.

From the water i am on the dark side of the light.

Posting this one to show the two dark spots on the tail tips, well lit.

This one, too.

She*s looking more shaggy-headed, than when i last saw her.

Hiya Rajame!
These are my first sightings of Em, so i don*t know the answers to your questions.
Yes, indeed, it is not a good year for Salmon returns.
We aren*t sure where Em goes to feed.
i heard of a place near Campbell River, not far away, called Quinsam, where there seemed to be Salmon.
Since it is so close, did our Eagles go there?

Zoomed out a bit here, as it is easier that way to keep all of her in the frame.

On my way off, i try again from the road side, where the lighting is better.
There just isn*t as good a full view of her from there, however.
But i luck out!

These are the best two of the rest of the fotos, from this angle.

Preening.

Funny how those tail spots only show from the underside.

i was heading out on my bike, so i did a spin around the neighbourhood to see if i could find anyone.
Em was easy to spot in the top of The His & Hers Tree!
i*d gotten an e-mail from a neighbour of Grassy Point, to say there was an Eagle there, so she*d been there a while.
It was an overcast day, with dull light, but her beak & feet sure stand out!
