We started our walk in Nest #24 Tribune Bay Campsite territory & continued into this territory where we spotted MORE young Eagles.
This one isn*t even a year old yet!
They are in the woods very near to the dead Sea Lion, waiting their turn, in the shade.

Here is the Eagle who is currently eating at the Sea Lion.

Getting a bit closer to this youngster in the Trees.

Yay!
i luck out when they turn into the Sun.

january 30 2018 15:00 - young Bald Eagle near Sea Lion

i have moved quite a bit closer now, but there are a lot of Trees & branches in the way.

& one more Eagle has landed nearby, this one a bit older.
Looks like a two year old who will turn three in the Spring!
Dark eye stripe starting to appear, eye has gotten a lot more yellow, as has the beak, with beautiful dark swirl still visible.
Beautiful lighting on that Fir Tree!

i*d been driving around, trying to find the Herring Spawn action that had been reported near Whaling Station the day before.
On my way home, i was SURE i*d spotted a white head in a field a long ways away.
i screeched to a halt & backed up, since i could, & zipped down my passenger window to take this foto which shows, sure enough, an Eagle air drying on a post!
This post is inland & across the road from the Nest.

This field used to get a pond in it when the weather was wet, & Eagles would bathe there then hang out in a lovely Tree nearby.
But recently, i discovered that this big beautiful old characteristic Tree has broken off, not far off the ground!
i am trying to find fotos of it from before it broke but so far hadn*t found any, so i never posted these two fotos showing it now broken.
Booo!

Here is a sample of what we used to be able to see, with the person i am caring for watching & commenting in the background!  heartssmiles
This Eagle has a very full crop, probably Herring.
