Caught two Orca surfacing!
i left in the scenery this time.
Look at that roiling water they are in!
& you can see their blows, still hanging in the air.

We pass the famous Orcalab!
Isn*t it nifty?
& look at that roiling water there!
They are right in the thick of the action center here.

People are pointing & excited & i keep missing it with my camera!
i am seeing lots with my eyes, but i see something out of the corner of my eye & my camera gets there too late.
So, again, i try taking a video of the water, hoping i will catch something.
& i do!
Jackie said these were the A34 Matriline of *Resident Orca*.
She puts that title in quotes because none of them are actually *resident*, they all move up & down the coast.
i turned off the sound of the wind on my camera*s mic.

Oh, yay!
i managed to get a foto of the lovely Common Murres!  :heart

Oooooooo!
i caught a bit of the leaping Pacific White-sided Dolphins!
Look at them go!
i get excited & zoom in & lose the focus at the end.

Our first dinner, it was explained that to save doing laundry on the boat, we would each be given one napkin which would be ours for the whole time.
Works for me!
In order to identify our napkins, we were each given our own distinctive napkin ring.
It was Jackie Hildering*s job to hand them out, while we awaited our dinner.
They were all in a wicker basket.
She would reach in & pull one out, then ask who wanted it.
There was a metal Sea Star, a Sea Horse, a Sea Dollar, etc.
i watched as everyone called out to claim theirs, wondering if there would be one that would catch my eye.
She was getting down to the bottom of the basket.
i prepared myself to be brave & shout out & be fast, if one were to my liking.
i was getting a bit desperate.
Finally she pulled out a worn wooden one, yellow with green polka dots.
ME!!
i surprised myself by yelling quickly.
Jackie turned to me, chuckling, saying *i should have known...*
wooohoooo!

In THIS facebook  video, that i hope you can all see, done by Louis Jobidon of Hornby Island at Heron Rocks, Jackie identifies Loons & Common Murres as the Birds who are diving & congregating the Herring.
So this is what we were seeing from the tugboat, & what was attracting all the Birds & Whales.
