Yesterday i lucked out & caught a Herring ball feeding event right out front from Grassy Point!
i stopped because i thought i saw & heard an altercation at the Nest, i*d seen wings flapping & heard screeching.
Turns out there were Eagles everywhere!
i could hear the rustle of their wings in every direction as they landed & took off.
i got four video clips of what they had all gathered for.
i was quite worried about the young Eagle who hit the water & then seemed to be drifting.
Was VERY relieved to see them take off again!

And THIS is what that was all about.
Lovely Herring!
Look at the rainbow colours of the scales.
Everyone has these scales stuck to them now, including me.
This small Herring was on the road between The Peters* Tree & The Nest.
The Eagles were grabbing foot fulls of them in the videos, easy to drop one.
This Herring was full of tiny roe.
Otto had a pre-dinner snack.

On my way home i did a spin through the neighbourhood & spotted three Eagles.
This one was in a Tree that would be behind Constables* Fir, from the cam.
This isn*t a usual perch Tree, but there have been Eagles here before that i have photographed.

These two were perched pretty close together, in separate Trees.
Resting on one foot, with the other tucked under the belly feathers.

Her beak is covered in Herring scales & flesh.

Okay, i am posting things a bit out of order here, still need to go back to march 1 & finish from there, but, oh well.

Yesterday morning was really exciting!
Eagles everywhere!
Lots of fotos from then to post, then i went for a lovely boat ride, fotos to post from that too, but on my way home i drove through the Nest neighbourhood & spotted Eagles in The Babysitting Tree.
i was feeling pretty certain that these were Dad & Em together again finally, but i cannot know for sure.
This Eagle just seemed so Dad & i thought i was seeing an enlarged nare on his left side, leftover from his terrible beak injuries, but the nares look the same on both sides.
So i uploaded these & wanted to get them posted here.

march 7 2018 14:50 - two Eagles (Dad & Em?) in The Babysitting Tree

This shows the left side nare, which looked a bit enlarged last time i spotted Dad for sure.
If this is him, it has sure healed & grown back in nicely!
Now both sides look good!

This face looks SO Dad to me!
i have a whole series to post of him leaving, but this is a nice one.

march 7 2018 14:56 - Eagle (Dad?) leaves The Babysitting Tree

This foto is from a bit earlier.
On my way home i noticed a pair of Eagles in The Fork Tree which is usually Mum/Em & Dad*s territory!
i have fotos to post of likely this same pair of Eagles from a few days ago, also in The Fork Tree.
i was a bit excited how much they look like Mum!
Anyway, they were perched there when this other Eagle landed in a separate perch branch but nearby.
They kinda looked at him like who the heck are YOU?
He landed in a bossy kind of manner that reminded me of one of the Eagles that has been hanging around Em & i called him Bossy Boots.
This is him & he has Herring scales or flesh stuck to his beak.
You can see his bossy manner here.
He has struck me as self-centered & aggressive, likely hormones & the desire for a territory to call his own.
This is just me speaking, nothing definite here, just my feelings.

march 7 2018 14:42 - Eagle (Bossy Boots) in The Fork Tree

Okay, here are the pair i was photographing when Bossy Boots landed with them.
They didn*t budge.
Perhaps they are The Wiigs & they are using this Tree since everything with Dad & Em is so upset right now?
i have definitely photographed our Eagles here in the past.

There were calls that to me sounded like Dad & Em!
By the time i get recording i only catch the tail end of them.
i uploaded this one in a hurry & didn*t turn it sideways first, so you will need to watch it as is.
It is the sounds that are important here.

A lot to think about, booni.  Nice photos of the large number of eagles.  Sure hope that one of them is Dad.  He would recognize you.

Okay, playing catch up from last week.
Back to the small Herring Spawn that occurred in the pebbly bay to the left of Grassy Point.
It was hilarious to see Gulls standing on snoozing Sea Lions!

march 1 2018 11:54 - Gull on Sea Lion

Time to go when the Sea Lion moves!

i sorta just stuck my camera out & hoped for something in focus.
i had some great Sea  Lion fotos that got photo bombed by a Gull at the last moment!

There was one young Eagle in the midst of all the Gulls & Sea Lions.
At least they stood still for long enough for me to get fotos of them.
There are videos of this youngster that i posted a few days ago.
