Lucked out & caught Dad & Em in The Babysitting Tree in the sunshine!
Dad*s looking a bit sleepy?
Em has a big poop shot on her right shoulder & a nice full crop!
She is blinking her nictitating membrane.

Dad*s beak on his left side isn*t looking any better.

They both are looking drowsy here.
We have had some HUGE wind & rain, perhaps the Sun is warm & sleepy after all that.

Trying to catch that nasty injury to Dad*s beak from any angle i can get.

It*s pretty windy up there.
Em is balancing in the wind.

Perhaps Dad's beak will have a permanent 'scar' or depression?  In other ways he looks very healthy to my untrained eyes.  love i am still in love with that handsome dude  heart heart

Okay, posting a whole lot more fotos just to show Dad*s injury from any different angle.
& gorgeous Em to boot!
They are both blowing in the wind here.
Perhaps that is why they are both blinking their nictitating membranes.

There seems to be a flap of something sticking out of the injury hole?

Thanks for showing it all to us, Dad.

Em looks very powerful here.
Birds aren*t embarassed & don*t think less of themselves just because they have a huge white poopshot on their shoulder!

This one shows that flap of something sticking out of the nare injury cavity.

We*d gone for a walk on Tribune Bay & there are fotos from that walk posted under the Nest 24 Tribune Bay Campsite topic & also under the Tribune Bay Tennis Court Nest topics.
On my way home, i did a driveby through the Nest neighbourhood & spotted Em hi up in Fosters* Fir!
i just pull over to the side of the road & park, roll down my window, & use the window frame as my tripod.

january 22 2018 14:49 - Em in Fosters* Fir

There are four seconds between this foto & the next one.
Notice how the lighting changes as the Sun comes out a bit.

Staying in my car as a blind, of course i am still noticed...

Look how her first & middle toe are clasping the branch, but both third toes are flat on top of it, & her left third toe is wrapped around a little branch stub.

We*d gone for ANOTHER walk to Tribune Bay in the sunshine, since it was calling for rain & wind & we sure weren*t getting it, & on my way home i did another driveby.
i was pretty sure i*d spotted a white head above the Nest!
i went around to the road behind the Nest & sure enough, there was Em on the wide angle cam box.
This time of year the Alders have no leaves but they have little twizzles which you can see ghosts of in these fotos.
In the summer i can*t stand where i am now & take fotos, because there are too many leaves in the way.
But this time of year, i can just poke my focus between the branches & twizzles.
She looks pretty magnificent!
Her feathers look very healthy.

Looking towards Nest #9 territory.

& here*s Dad in The Babysitting Tree & you can really see the sticky-outy thing coming out of his injured nare.

january 24 2018 13:06 - Dad in The Babysitting Tree

They were calling at someone.
Here is Em at the tail end of her call, & you can also hear Dad.

Dad looking like he sees something over towards Niner territory.
You can see his distinctive feather here, too.

Another day, another driveby!
This time it is Dad on the wide angle cam box.
i am peeking through the leafless branches again.
Dad*s looking a bit Mumish in the feathering below his chin!
i call those feathers grizzled, but not sure that is the right word.

january 25 2018 15:29 - Dad on the wide angle cam box

Injury visible now.

Look at him rubber-necking!
He has spotted something.
