Ever handsome and stately Dad returns and I am filled with hopefulness for the new season. We used to wait and look to the nest and chart the date/day that Mom and Dad returned. We knew, with trepidation, that one day things would change. And they did. Is the eagle with the hole in her beak Mom? Is Em actually Hope? We will probably never know for sure. What I am sure of is that this experience of knowing all of you and Mom and Dad and Em and all the eaglets changed me forever!

Thank you from my heart to you Booni for your willingness to share with us. Made even more precious each post.

Today at 1:30 i was scanning the Nest neighbourhood when i spotted an Eagle perched in The Peters* Tree!
Seems like a LONG time since i have seen an Eagle perched there.
It looked like Dad, but it was just a quick peek.
When i went by later to see if he was still there, the perch Tree was empty.

It was a lovely sunny day so i went looking for Dad today.
& i found him!
In The Babysitting Tree.
From the cam, this is a nice spot to see Dad, but from the ground, that big short branch is in the way.
Had to wait for him to peek out from under it.
He was in a perfect spot & perfect light to show us his specially marked feather that tells us it is him.

A little later this same day, & there was Dad in that same tangle of perch branches, only now he is facing the Sun.

i did a drive through the Nest neighbourhood & was thinking no Eagles were home til i thought i spotted a white head in The His & Hers Tree.
Yes!
i was thinking this must be Dad, but right away, i am seeing it is not.
Dad appears to have a shorter neck than this Eagle.
& this one*s head feathers are more fluffy.
& the body feathers seem more dark, even in the bright sunshine.

Definitely a longer neck, & fluffier head feathers.
& they are looking with elongated neck (rubbernecking) in the direction of Niner territory, where i spotted an Eagle perched on my way by later.

Looking towards someone in Hidden Beach perhaps?
There were no Eagles in the other Trees closer to the Nest, that i noticed.

i am spotted & examined.

You can see an increased alertness in the posture, here.

Blast off.

This Eagle has speckledy secondary feathers on their right wing tips!

Oh, & interesting dark tail tips, too!

Love seeing the sole of the foot.
Usually it is black, but this is nice & clean yellow!
