Welcome to the other nests of Hornby Island! - includes map.
« on: December 22, 2015, 07:20:33 PM »
This thread is for information that has to do with all the nests on the island, or information that has to do with more than one nest. There are about two dozen active nests on the island on any given year.

You can find last year's thread and  the 2014 version of the eagle nest map here.

I will put together a map of the 2015 nests in the near future.

The Christmas Bird Count took place on Wednesday, December 16. Island-wide we counted 57 eagles! That would be most of the resident island pairs, plus a few visitors, notably near Cape Gurney where 11 eagles were seen.

All together we identified 71 bird species, with 6 more being observed during count week. Quite a diversity we have around our little lsland.
