I see what you mean Wren. This eagle has the same posture and does indeed look like the one Booni photographed.

At 11:45 this morning I saw what was for me the first feed ball of the year, out on the water a little way north of this territory.

Only one eagle, an immature, tried to catch some fish. He didn't seem successful.
It was pretty low key as feed balls go, small and brief.

The interesting thing was that mergansers formed the majority of the birds feeding here. I counted abut 15 Red-breasted and 9 Common Mergansers, along with one Double-crested Cormorant, a solitary Harlequin and about 25 gulls.
Mergansers usually feed closer to shore. This would have been about 500 metres offshore.

From the parking lot of Ford Cove, i spotted two large flying Birds.
One was an Eagle, the other was a Turkey Vulture!
The first one i*ve seen, since they left late fall.
