We were down at Shingle Spit & with my camera i was able to spot a white head down in the Nest.
In a later foto, the Nest has no head in it but there is an Eagle standing off to the left.
i noticed the fly off & this Eagle landed in a perch Tree nearby & trilled, looks like Dad.
The heat waves distort all the fotos, so i am only going to post a few.

Six minutes later, Mum Shingle Spit lands on the left of the Nest.

The videos kind of show it best.
You can see the heat waves moving past.
It is hard to see the monitor & see what is going on til i watch the video later.
The way Mum steps in & looks down into the Nest, looks to me like there is a hatch there.
Then she goes to the right side of the Nest & she is pulling at something & eating, but i don*t see her feeding anybody in the Nest bowl this time.

Here, she is stepping down into the Nest bowl.
The exhalation of air that startles her is the ferry coming in.

Meanwhile, Dad is still chillaxin* on his branch, clenching his right foot & watching the ferry traffic leave.

Yesterday we hiked the 45o angle of Shingle Spit beach & managed to pick up a bag of plastic, even thought we*ve been here quite a few times recently.
i sat on the bench near the Nest, with my ears & eyes open, but heard & saw no adults or Eaglets.
Then i heard an adult & spotted this parent in a Tree near the Nest, so that gave me hope.
Not the best foto, but look!, i*ve caught the brood patch opened up!
They can close all these feathers & you wouldn*t be able to see it, but i have lucked out & caught the Eagle with all their belly feathers opened up!
It is an incubation patch while they are incubating eggs, but once hatched, it is called the brood patch, for brooding the hatched Eaglets.

i took tons of fotos of the Nest, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone in there, but i see nothing in any of them.
The second adult lands & trills nearby, the Mum, so there MUST be something going on in the Nest, though i hear not a peep.
i am studying all the Nest fotos last night, deleting, deleting, then there is this one!

Late in the afternoon we hiked out to the point of Shingle Spit.
It was low tide & we had missed the low low, but the tide was still way out.
Shingle Spit is so cool.
i just love walking around there, especially with the tide so low.
Otto was plunking around at the tip of the Spit, dunking in the water looking for his stick which the rip-snorting tide had taken out of his reach.
He kept grabbing for rocks, thinking it was his stick.
The sun was behind cloud, but it was still plenty warm, & a good breeze was blowing.
i kept taking fotos of the Nest, hoping to catch something.
i could see an adult there, & one on a perch Tree nearby.
i thought i had heard happy churbling as we first approached, but i didn*t think i*d photographed an Eaglet til i looked at my fotos later on the computer.
During a jiggly video, i spotted a brown youngster!
Today when i looked at my fotos again, i could see the youngster that i hadn*t noticed i*d gotten last night.
This is a still from the jiggly video, which shows the panting Eaglet best.
This adult is quite stained.

The stained adult who was feeding the Eaglet/s has a very full crop!
Nest is down & to the right of the adult in this video.

An update on the Shingle Spitlet.
Still seeing only one.
This one is in the tippy top of the Nest Tree!
Not sure if they have left that Tree yet.
As i arrived, i heard the happy calls of an Eaglet getting food.
Took me a while to figure out where the Eaglet was.
Then i had to walk round & round to find a spot to photograph them from.

Looks like a bit of a full crop.
