It was pouring rain when i spotted this Eagle in the Tree across the road from me.
At first i thought maybe sub-adult, due to the dark staining around the beak which is more likely due to eating Seal or Sea Lion carcass on the beach.
This adult did a lot of preening, & was constantly watching their Nest Tree, as she is in this foto.

Calling out.

This Eagle has a real Mum look to her, which shows more in the video.

She is taking a break from the Nest, but she is not taking her eye off it the whole time.

Well, up until maybe two weeks ago, it sure seemed as though the Niner Eagles had at least one Eaglet in the Nest.
wren talked about hearing the Eaglet here on june 14.
The rest of that thread details behaviours indicating the parents were still nesting.
But i have yet to hear an Eaglet.
Usually i hear them from my yard, when driving by, & when i pick up my mail.
But there is total silence.
i haven*t heard the adults nearby either.
i found the people who live next to the Nest Tree at the Farmers* Market & they say the same thing - they heard an Eaglet & the adults caring for them at the Nest, but now silence.
Last year something similar happened.
i thought we had lost the Eaglet/s, then suddenly started hearing them again here.
i am hope hope hoping for something similar to happen this year, but am losing hope...
