Dad left The Babysitting Tree & flew to The Peters* Tree.
The female remained in The Babysitting Tree.

Lovely lovely, dear Dad.

Interesting dark markings on the underside of Dad*s white tail feathers.

Looking back to where the female is.

Dad and his Current Friend on Mishi's Tree, 2 days ago.
She has dark tips on two tail feathers.

October 22, 2:47 pm

Current Friend flies off.

With the light shining through, it looks like she's recently moulted a number of tail feathers.

While I followed Current Friend with my camera, Dad took off also. They flew towards my house - hey, can't you tell I'm not home?
There were trills. I heard later that the cam had found them on Mishi's Tree and found other eagles nearby.
I lost sight of them because they circled way up in the air, drifting this way and that but generally away from the nest.

My heart sings with the sight of Dad. Even as it pines for the sight of Mom. Thank you, Booni and Wren, for letting us 'be' there with you. Deepest respect and gratitude for the work you do, in the name of love. xoxo

It was a lovely sunny evening down at Grassy Point.
But a cold wind, when you were in the shade.

october 23 2015 16:30 - Great Blue Heron

This lovely flock went scooting by in the sunshine, it was hard to focus on them, they were moving so fast & then they*d dive!
Love all the action in this one, & the guy covered in water after his dive in the upper right corner.
wren, have i i*d*ed these correctly?
i don*t see any males here, i don*t know my water Birds very well.

On this day there were two Eagles in The Babysitting Tree, Dad & someone else, & when they trilled together, to me it sounded like the female was someone new!

i*ve been noticing that Hope*s Tree looks different.
She has lost her huge chunk of top!

Look at all the rot in there.

& compare to how she looked only a few months ago!
All this visible trunk is now gone!

Yes indeed, they're Red-breasted Mergansers. I think I may have seen the same flock in the Niners' territory 45 minutes later!
The posting is here.
