Hi Booni.  The link here doesn't open for me.  Can you fix it for us?  Many thanks!   love

Tiger the 'here' link won't work until Wren posts the photos and story in the Lunar Rock nest thread.  Can't wait to hear how it went.  Wren had mentioned there may be a problem with one of the fledgers from the nest in the chat.

Anyone know a bird rescue person on the island. An Eagle just dropped an immature large shore bird in my back yard. He is alive and alert (A loon?) and perhaps could be rescued.

This was posted to the Hornby Word of Mouth facebook page early this morning.
So the phone rang at five to seven.
i called her back & explained how i would call Mountainaire for advice, then put the Bird in a box or kennel & go down to the ferry lineup & beg for rides, then arrange for MARS & the ride to meet.
She was happy for the help, & this was the outcome!

Thanks to you folks, the bird is on it's way to Mountain Avian Rescue via my kind husband. We will meet them in Courtenay.

Marielle, from Island Wildlife Natural Care Center left a message on my machine saying there was a Seal that needed helped.
i got the message 1/2 an hour later & called her back.
A woman down at Heron Rocks had spotted an abandoned Seal Pup around 1pm, & had been asked to keep her eye on it.
When she called later in the afternoon to say the pup was still there, she was asked to send fotos to both IWNCC & the Vancouver Aquarium.
It was decided that this pup was in desperate need of rescue.
The woman had had quite the battle on her hands, with men who said the pup was fine, leave him alone, but when it was explained to them that people who are experts had decided help was needed, the men backed off.
i was told to go down there & get the Seal Pup fast, as they weren*t going to live long, left in that condition.
i was also prepared that people might argue with me about this.
So i drove down there & was allowed to park close to the beach & borrow a wheelbarrow.
i was quickly spotted by the woman & her son, & she pointed to the Pup, who looked melted into the rocks.
Yikes, i*d never seen one look so poorly like this.
They were only just breathing, & barely opened their eyes or cried when i lifted them in a towel & laid them in the carrier.
Then into the wheelbarrow & off to my van before anyone could protest.
Jim Funk & his water taxi service had been lined up ready for me, & he was waiting ready to go when i arrived with the pup.
i helped him load his boat, then off he went to Deep Bay to meet Elke, who is often the next leg of the journey of a Seal Pup from Hornby.
i sure hope that sweet one can pull through.
& thank you thank you to the woman & her son who stuck with the Pup, called for help, & put up with the people arguing with her about whether the Pup needed help or not.
If it wasn*t for her, that Pup would still be lying there, ignored for its own good, by a campsite full of people.
