Mum came back right away & landed lower down in The Babysitting Tree.
Dad remained where he was.
i am posting these last three fotos, as there is good lighting to document Mum*s head injuries.

I feel the same way Donnae. I am thankful to Booni for posting these very detailed photos. Perhaps we should all be asking what we would truly want for Mom?

Anyway, I continue to hope for the best for Mom, but know that the ultimate healing for her may be flying over the Rainbow bridge.

When October comes, we will know more.

My love for Mom and Dad can be felt throughout my heart, soul and body. I literally ache for her and Dad too. I know I am not alone.

I feel sad when looking at her injuries...sure hope she was able to heal. :heart

I'm with yo Raj - stubbornly clinging to hope - but only if it includes quality of life for her - even for a short old age. :eclove

These were severe injuries indeed!
What has me keeping up the hope, is that Mum hung in there for two weeks, was eating & looking stronger & healing in those last fotos of her.
My little fantasy is that she went off to follow the food, there were too many other Eagles around for her to defend the territory in the condition she was in.
So, she is eating & healing up, & i hope to see her in october.

Now, going back to another album of fotos that i never got a chance to finish.
i posted some assessment fotos of Mum here, but MUCH more happened that day!
This was the day after we first noticed on the cam that something looked wrong with Mum.
i had gone down there after work & caught that video.
i remember being terribly shocked by what i saw, when i looked at the fotos on my camera as i took them.
So, the next day, i went down there a few times & spent time with Mum with my good camera.

While i was photographing Mum on the Nest, this gorgeous youngster landed in Gregg*s Tree low down & handy for me to photograph!
It seemed to me that this Eagle was there for a long time, but now that i check the time stamps of the fotos, it was actually only two minutes!
Notice all the blood red Fish scales stuck to this Eagle*s beak, & there is blood on a tail feather.

march 3 2015 10:49 - visitor Eagle in Gregg*s Tree

Perhaps a two year old, just beginning their third year?
Developing the eye stripe of a three year old, beak getting a lot more yellow, eye still brown, but more of a yellow brown now, & lovely tail feathers becoming more white!

This could be Hali!

i took a couple of videos.
The colouring of this Eagle looks more like it really was, in the video.
In the fotos, the Eagle looks a lighter, more reddy brown.

While i was focused on the youngster, Mum flew from the Nest to The Babysitting Tree, where Dad was already perched.
Perhaps this was why they youngster left.
At one point, Dad suddenly took off.
Mum looked like she was going to too, but then changed her mind.
i like this view of her lovely fanned tail & petticoat feathers!
She looked about to take off, but then didn*t.
& then she did.

march 3 2015 10:55 - Mum in the Babysitting Tree

Here is Dad returning.
His beak looks like he*s been eating, too.

march 3 2015 10:55 - Dad in the Babysitting Tree

Now, here*s Mum returning too.
Look how well she is doing, considering her grievous injuries!

& then another visitor arrives!
Could this be Scootch again?

march 3 2015 11:04 - Dad & Mum in the Babysitting Tree visitor arrives

Oops, same foto, only this one i used the D-Lighting to lighten it up a bit.

Ha ha, sweet youngster, landing right in there with Mum & Dad!
Look at all those lovely white feathers with brown tipping.

Dad seems to be checking the youngster out.

i love all the white tipping on the head feathers!
Eaglets have those.

march 3 2015 11:04 - Dad & Mum in the Babysitting Tree with a visitor

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14YEoQoLgR4

Dad has spotted something.
& so has the youngster.

march 3 2015 11:05:21 - Dad & visitor in the Babysitting Tree

There goes Dad!
& the youngster is startled, maybe thinking Dad is coming for her.

Dad wants the youngster*s perch branch.

The youngster*s feet & legs are all over the place as they get the heck out of there!

& there she goes, as Dad lands where she was.

& you*re not gonna believe where the youngster landed!
This was the very same branch that Scootch re-appeared in, that early monday morning she returned, after falling from a branch in this same Tree, lower down.
We looked all over for her, & never found her anywhere, for over two days, then suddenly, there she was!
What a joy it was to see her again!
Here, she is changing to the feathering of a two year old Eagle.
The top of the head is lightening, & the breast feathers are very white, especially against the line where the breast turns to the very dark brown head feathering.

march 3 2015 11:05 - visitor in Gregg*s Tree

Looking towards Mum & Dad in The Babysitting Tree.
Are they gonna come chase me away from here, too?
Looks like her leg feathers are wet.

Turning on the branch.
Look at the wet leg feathers here, & the lovely yellow feet!

Goofy youngster, still learning how to do things.

Getting her footing on the branch.

Turning to face me again, yay!
Look how black the beak still is, with a bit of yellow starting to creep in.
You can see the lightening crown feathers well here.

Keeping an eye on Mum & Dad in The Babysitting Tree.

Lovely crown feathers visible as she preens her breast a bit.

Taking a look at the camera & the photographer. :heart
Lovely brown eye already changing from the dark brown of the Eaglet.
