A bit later Donna and I were walking around the area of Grassy Point and we spotted Mom in the babysitting tree.  She was in the company of a number of starlings.

She flew off and went toward Hidden Beach....so we followed, hoping that we would spot her.  What a sight awaited us!! BOTH Mom and Dad in perch trees right above us!

Dad

Mom

Soon, Mom flew off, but Dad remained.

Later in the day, the sun was shining brightly, so we went back down towards Grassy Point to see who might be around.  What a joy to find both Mom and Dad in the Babysitting Tree!!

Dad suddenly spotted something of interest and took off...

Dad seemed to just take a quick trip around the area, and soon was landing back on the branch above Mom.

Dad calls out to let all the neighbors know that he is there

He does a little preening....

Then settles in.

Many, many thanks, Mishi  :heart - loving all of your pictures and stories, especially the visits to Coombs (goat on the roof) and the Dutch licorice store (consulting with AJL by cell phone - lol).

..... and then all those lovely pics of Mom and Dad on Hornby Island - have been enjoying your visit, and seeing you and Donnae, Booni and Maj.  I have a bad case of Hornby-envy  :ecsad

Miigwetch Foldi!!  I love Love LOVE Hornby...and Mom and Dad...

Mom and Dad remained in the Babysitting Tree for quite a while....and another large silver bird flew through the sky.

They really were not bothered.

After standing in awe of these two magnificent ones, we wandered back down to Grassy Point, and were greeted by this fellow.

I finally managed to make first light at Grassy Point, and catch a sunrise, that proved to be spectacular.

Dad was enjoying the sunrise from the His and Hers Tree

The iconic driftwood at Grassy Point

Donna strikes a pose

Then I decide to follow suit!

A little later, Dad was spotted in the Peters Tree having a stretch.  He has a fluffy attached to his beak!

booni and I moved around the area to get a better look...and better light!

Another stretch....love the foot stretching out behind.

I really appreciate having booni "try" to teach me how to use the settings on my camera.  Sometimes, well ok this one time, I actually got just the right exposure!

I move, the light changes, my settings are not as clear, but I did catch Dad doing a fisted stretch!

And he is off.....note the fluffy, once attached to his beak....sailing off behind him.

A little later that day we found both Mom and Dad in the Babysitting Tree.  Again boonis patience with teaching me about my camera was much appreciated!!

Mom in the upper branch of the Babysitting Tree

Roofus comes out to see what is going on....

Dad is sitting in the bare branch.....I love the "uni-brow" look that he is sporting!

Notice Mom on the upper branch, while Dad sits on the bare branch.

Mom at the top of the Babysitting tree, Dad a little lower down, and crows at the very top....all taking in the view.

This crow sang us a song.....with tail spread wide.

Then he settles in ...looking proud!

Dad has moved up to join Mom..

Mom does a little preening.

she gives us a "look"

Then a shuggle~

and a bit more preening.

Once again I have been blessed and was able to travel to Hornby, in hopes of witnessing the return of Mom and Dad.  I arrived in Victoria on the 30th of September, met Donna, and began the drive to Buckley Bay in order to catch the last ferry of the day going to Hornby.  The morning of October 1st gifted me with a beautiful first light and sunrise, from Grassy Point.

First Light.....

We were meeting Dan at Gregg's tree that morning, for the annual cam cleaning.  What a marvel it is to watch him scale that huge tree!!  I was also lucky enough to be asked to "monitor" his lines as he climbed up, then came back down.  Thankfully, I only had to 'watch'.

Gregg's Tree, Cam cleaning....
