I talked to one of this nest's neighbours today. He thinks there is at least one eaglet in this nest; he has heard lots of screeps but he didn't notice if there was ever more than one at a time.

He told me that he saw a youngster flying low, and then landing on a low branch, with a big fish. He doesn't know how to tell the different ages and was wondering if this is this year's fledgling.

This nest is usually one of the earliest to fledge. But I looked at my notes from last year. I heard screeps from the nest on July 3; Booni first saw a fledgling on July 19. To have a flying eaglet right now would not be impossible, but it's not highly probable. I hope to be able to investigate sometime soon.

An orphaned baby seal was found in this territory today and is now in care at the Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre on Saltspring Island.
