Nest Brigantine - 2014 season

This is where you can find observations, in the form of fotos video & discussion, of the Brigantine Nest.
This Nest is in a big beautiful old Tree in a neighbourhood of large house lots.
It is about 250' from the water & at the top of the Tree are perch branches.
There is a snag, a Tree with a dead top & branches, right on the high bank on the water, & we often see the pair perched there.
It seems to be a good fishing beach.
Looks like last year we had no obs. on this Nest.
But you can find the obs. to the season before last, containing links to previous seasons here.

Okay!
So, after spotting who i suspected were Mum & Dad here, i decided to continue biking on to the Wiig & Brig territories to see if i could spot them, too.
i believe i saw a Wiig through the trees, perched in one of their water side perch Trees, but i didn*t stop to photograph them.
i carried on down the road to the Brigantine Nesting Territory.
As soon as the Nest Tree came into view, i could see that there were two Eagles perched there.
When i got closer, i got off my bike & stopped to photograph.
Here is the first one.
He was on a branch that sticks out towards the water.

i say he, but i am not at all positive here.



Here*s the second Eagle of the pair, perched at the tippy top of the Nest Tree.
There were lots of branches between me & her, & was trying to photograph her through them.
Interesting faded feathers patch on the breast here!





Whaddya think?
Does she know i*m here?
One thing, if she*s looking at ME between the branches, it makes it easier for me to photograph HER!

i spotted this first Brigantine adult in their water side perch Tree.
They were making that interesting *uk-uk-uk-uk* sound!
Their white feathers near their beak are stained, perhaps by eating Sea Lion?

Then the other member of the pair flew in & landed in the same Tree.
i believe they had been in the Nest Tree.
The first adult was making the *uk-uk-uk-uk* sound in that direction.
This second adult seems stained by eating Sea Lion too.

We went for a walk to the right of Mum & Dad*s Nest & walked past the Wiigs, who there was no sign of, & then the Brigs.
One of the Brigs was home, perched near the Nest on the Nest Tree.
i heard no Eaglets, but perhaps this indicates that at least there is one?

I try to visit any given nest 3 times before concluding that there are no eaglets. I figure that if I fail to see or hear anything three times in a row it's a little more than bad luck. I also try to notice other signs of occupancy: whenever it's possible without unduly approaching the nest, I check for the white rain of poopshots underneath; I also look for little waving flags of down (which is starting to appear now in the occupied nests) and more white rain on the branches surrounding the nest.

I paddled twice past this nest in the first two weeks of June and each time I drifted as close as I could and watched with binoculars for a while. Then on June 26 I rode my bike over there, after checking the Wiig Nest. I took photos from as many angles as I could.

The Brigantine nest tree is right on the road. On a normal year one actually risks being rained on, just riding past the tree. This year again, though, there is no "paint" anywhere on nearby bushes.
I have not seen the adults lately, either.

So this looks like another fallow year for this nest.
