Later in the afternoon, there were two Eagles perched in the Babysitting Tree.
So i went down to see who was there.
This dark brown Eagle was in the left top of the Tree, looking towards the water & Grassy Point.

october 8 2013 16:11 - visitor Eagle in Babysitting Tree

The other Eagle in the Tree was Dad, on that long bare branch, facing away from the water.
He is looking up at the visitor at the top of the Tree, making soft calls.
He is calm, not chasing the visitor away, but i don*t think Dad is happy with their presence.

Here is the dark visitor again.

Dad was craning his head, looking through the Tree towards Grassy Point.
Was he seeing another visitor?

Dad is still looking towards Grassy Point.

october 8 2013 16:12:19 - Dad in the Babysitting Tree

This is a CLASSIC Dad pose & look.

i have approached a bit closer, & more to Dad*s left.

It was very windy from Dad*s right, & his feathers were getting blown open.

Dad*s head feathers are fluffed up here.
He is not totally comfy with who is around that he is watching here.

Look at him craning his neck up to see whoever it is that he sees!
Visitor is still in upper left perch of Tree, so i think this may be a third he is seeing.

october 8 2013 16:15:59 - Dad in the Babysitting Tree

Dad is making his soft calls to the visitor in the upper left of the Tree.

Here is the visitor again, hard to photograph, perched behind branches on the water side of the Tree.
They are seeing something to our right.

Dad being wind blown, & showing us his nictitating membrane.

On my way out i stopped by the back side of the Nest as there were two Eagles perched there, very close together, looking comfy.
Were they Mum & Dad?
This Eagle was perched near the top of the Tree, on the other side of the back side branches, looking out at the water.
i got all excited when i saw this foto!!
Can you see why??

Look at the head feather *do* on this one!
& there are the hints of a dark part on the back of the head!

Oh, but no, this is not Mum after all!

october 9 2013 11:52 - sub-adult or just turned adult Eagle in Babysitting Tree

There was trilling in the distance, perhaps from Grassy Point, & this Eagle took off.
Look at the lovely dark tipping of the tail feathers!

i focused on the other Eagle now, who was perched quite close by, just a bit further down in the Tree.
This Eagle made a sort of chuffing chachunk, so they weren*t Mum or Dad either.

Mishi & i went looking for Mum & Dad yesterday afternoon.
We were hoping they*d be in the Babysitting Tree, as the light was wonderful!
& they were!
Fortunately, Mishi encouraged me to bring my GOOD camera.

october 12 2013 15:17 - Mum in the Babysitting Tree

Mum was very alert, she seemed to keep spotting something.
She was relaxed in her perch, though, & preened often.

Mum was very alert, while Dad was more relaxed.
Mum is perched on one foot, with the other tucked against her belly under the feathers there, which is a relaxed perch, alert as she is, looking to her right & left often as though she is seeing something there to keep an eye on.

october 12 2013 15:17:36 - Mum & Dad in the Babysitting Tree

Dad is on his favourite little stubby perch branch.

Mum is alert to something in the Hidden Beach area.
