Scootch fledged and has had her/his first adventure.  Please don't scare all of us like that!

Congratulations and enjoy your future flights.

Many thanks to all who over the past few days walked the area, took pictures, made videos and shared with us.

August 14

6.33   Mom into the nest from left, and then Scootch comes in from the right and lands on the stump.  Still screeping,  she drops to the old close-up cam and into the nest to mantle the food mum brought for her. All with lovely sunrise on the water ...

August 20

Mom and Scootch are still on Hornby Island.  apparently Mom is not yet sure that Scootch is ready to follow her off-island to the salmon runs.  Any day now, though, they might leave.

Here is Scootch on Constable's Tree.  She flies right toward the camera and then up to land on the cam tree (Gregg's Tree).

Thanks to Sparky for the video!

That is such a great video, Nancy and Sparky - if I'm not mistaken, I think I could see Scootch's signature white tipped tail feathers during that flight!

August 22

15 weeks since Scootch hatched.

2 weeks since Scootch fledged (and 'oopsed').

Last day Scootch was seen on cam ~ we all hope she is off with Mom and enjoying her introduction to plentiful food and new friends. ♥

We had a great "Celebration of Scootch" in the chat room last night (Tuesday, Sep 2).  Many thanks to everyone who participated.  love

AJL and Cali created a wonderful video to recap the season and to tell everyone about Camper, another Hornby Island eaglet.

Sorry I missed the celebration (past my bedtime), but what a wonderful video! Thank you Cali and Ajl! Blessings on your travels, beloved Scootch! Power of Eagle be thine, dear Camper!
