i was visiting friends near Nest # 25 when i spotted these two trying to look like statues in the front yard.
Apparently they*d been there all morning.
They stood stock still the whole time i was there.

I spent time on the shore near this nest on February 11. The Little Tribune Bay nest territory and Dunlop Point both had adult eagles attending and defending them, but I could see no-one near this nest.

When I approached, I spotted a beautiful young eagle on a tree near the nest.

In this first picture, I believe the nest tree is the one at the centre of the picture (Booni, is that right?). The youngster is on the leftmost tree.

Still there at 4:51 in the fading light

So this made me wonder about the status of this nest for this season. But a few days later, I paddled by the same area and heard gulling. Soon I spotted an adult on a big snag near the nest. And when I put my photos on the computer, I realised that there is a second adult in the large tree to the left. (Click on the picture to see better.)

wren, those trees both look kind of bare for Nest #25?  :puzzled2
i remember that tree as being quite green & bushy.
i thought i had fotos of this Nest Tree from the beach, but they are all cropped.
Were those two trees to the left or to the right of the one that the adult was perched in?

i DO recognize that perch tree that the adult was in though!

Cali, both of my photos are of the same young eagle, on the same stubby branch, from different angles. I was around there for an hour and he didn't move. Looks so different with the change of the light, doesn't he? The eye stripe seems way more definite and the beak lighter in the second photo.

Booni, I no longer remember for sure what the layout was. Things look so different from the water... On my first photo, there is a small A-frame house just outside the photo to the right. I THINK the perch of the last photo is to the right of the trees in the first photo when viewed from the water, but I'm no longer sure. I guess I have a 50% chance of remembering it correctly.  :mhihi

I only saw that nest once, from near the buildings, with you, so I've been trying to find it from the beach and I may be completely wrong.

There is what looks like a branchy clump at the very centre of my first photo, but also another one further up the other tree to the left. It is all very confusing.

Nest 25 seen from the water, yesterday morning, March 30, 10:25.

Someone is sitting... Presumably on eggs.

This morning (July 10) I paid a third visit to this nest in a week. On my previous ones I had not seen or heard any eaglets, but two adult eagles were nearby. And since the nest tree partly overhangs the beach I had been able to see copious poop shots below it. So I was reasonably sure that someone was in that nest.

This time I was able to visit in the morning. I started at the Dunlop nest, and from there I could hear screeps in the distance! So I pointed my feet toward Nest 25 and started walking along the shore.

This is who I saw first. She had been perched near the nest and flew at my approach, relocating to a tree that I thought was part of the Dunlop territory. She later flew across the point and only then did she raise territorial calls from the Dunlop pair.

Is she young, or is she stained?

I've started looking for the little flags of down fluffies waving in the breeze as a sign that the nest is occupied... I found a few here. The nest is difficult to see from the beach.
10:49

I tiptoe around, looking for a good angle, and suddenly there she is!

At 11:11 she became restless, craning her neck this way and that, standing tall and expectant. Nothing visible seemed to justify this.

July 10, 11:12

11:13. She shuffles, then crouches...

And then!
