Saturday, March 30 - what a beautiful surprise awaited my eyes when I logged onto FB.  :wub

When on a drive (on Friday) Andrew from Cheetah Plains saw 'Karula & Cs' (my abbreviation for Karula and Cubs).

Today he posted this beautiful photo of them:

This link to FB will take you to Andrew's album with 13 photos he took.
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.529846667067786.1073741828.278177142234741&type=1

And in another group on FB related to 'Leopards in Sabi Sands' two members discussed whether Mvula or male Tingana was their father, both had been seen mating with Karula.

March 29 - K and Cs Posts re Father

I know some of you may not be on FB, so when I come home this afternoon I will look at the album and post a few of the photos for you.

 :eclove  :hooray

As promised, a few of the photos Andrew took and posted in Cheetah Plains album on FB.  A 'few' = 9 of the 13.
 :eclol

I have numbered the photos as Andrew did.  On looking at the photos a second time I realized that Karula had obviously made a kill for the herself and the cubs.

Karula gnaws on a bone from the kill.

Mar. 30 (1) Karula

Karula or a cub resting.

Mar. 30 (2) K or cub resting

Another of K. with the kill.

Mar. 30 (4) Karula

Loving Mother and one cub

Mar. 30 (7) Karula and one cub

By the looks of it one cub has a full tummy.  :eclove

Mar. 30 (9) A full tummy

More to come  > > > >

The last four of Andrew's photos that I downloaded from FB.

"Please Mum, may have some too?"

Mar. 30 (10)  Please may I have some ?

The trio as posted before by itself. I am so pleased they posed as a family for Andrew.  :ecwink  Maybe Karula has told them that one poses when a 'jigga' goes by??  :eclol

Mar. 30 (11) Karula and both cubs
One cub wondering how best to snatch some of the kill from Karula.  Can't you just see her reaction - 'not yet, wait.'

Mar. 30 (12) Cub wondering how to snatch some food

'Okay, I give up'  :sigh

Mar. 30 (13) - Cub says "I give up."

What a wonderful, awesome sighting.  Andrew  :ty   sooooo much.

MaggiesMom, lovely to see you here. I am sure I speak for all who watched the game drives, when I say 'the drives, the wildlife and the crew' are all missed.

I realize this is not news about Karula, but to answer MaggiesMom question re Tara, Sebastien and Marc - - - - -

Tara continues to be a team leader at the Black Leopard Wildlife Campus. This is located in the Thaba Tholo Wilderness Reserve.   Tara is in some of the photos on this site.

She is seldom heard from, but did post on her blog site just before Christmas HERE.

Sebastien finished doing some 3D work for WE and a video company. Then he and his long time lady love - Shannon went to to help manage the lodge and he is now heavily involved as the course director at Beyond Borders Film School ** .

In Oct. of 2012 he post two pieces of great news:
1. He and Shannon are expecting a baby in late April of this year.
http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?topic=1120.msg120054#msg120054

2. He opened a nature film school and is the course director.  Click on the link in my first paragraph with the ** about Sebastien which goes to Schools timeline on FB and then click on 'About' for in depth detail.

Marc - has had short term positions in various places. I am not sure where / what he is up to at present.

Friday, April 19 - Sighting from Cheetah Plains

While on a drive Andrew came across Karula and Mvula sharing a kudu dinner. Apparently Mvula had 'stolen' it earlier from Karula.  How kind of him to share the kill with the Mother of his latest children.   :ecsmile

Mvula certainly is a large leopard. It is when we see a male and female together that I am reminded of just how big the the full grown male leopards are.

Now if Karula would bring the children out for us to see. They are going on 5 months.

On March 30th, I posted HERE.

In the post Andrew from Cheetah posted that one cub was male, but couldn't see clearly if the other one was also male.

An update posted today from Candice (GM at DPGR), written on April 17:
Karula's latest cubs are both male.

This information was posted today (Apr. 27) on FB after it was seen by a member of the 'Djuma Djunkie Group'. Thanks to Wendy M. :ecsmile

The sighting occurred on April 14 at Cheetah Plains.
An exciting morning drive, ellies (almost a misadventure), wild dogs, and leopards:

:woohoo2  :wub

Today, Karula and her boys made an appearance at Cheetah Plains. Justin later posted two great photos.  They all look extremely well. Check out the big paws on the cub immediately behind his Mom.  Mvula has big feet too.  :nod2

Thumbnail - click for Justin's full size photo:

You are all most welcome. I have just been looking at all the photos I have posted. The vast majority of them have been taken at Cheetah Plains.

Justin Granvill has done a superb job of taking and posting photos to keep all of Karula's gans current.   :ty
