From this post: http://www.ournaturezone.com/index.php?topic=1342.msg132695#msg132695

17:28 Line of ducks found floating around at arbutus gap area

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0upw6pH_p8M" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0upw6pH_p8M</a>

This reminds me of Sooty Shearwaters frenzy eating, but we aren't close up to see if they are flying around, etc. so can only guess.

Gerry and I saw this happen locally, and this is a YouTube video someone took, that shows the action and shows the line.

Probably still some Surf Scoters, emc. I took these photos from the water right at Grassy Point on Thursday evening.
There is a video where you can hear the flock taking off, with an amazing whistling of wings.

May 16, 8:01 pm

(Sorry, I can't get the other sizes to load. The second picture is clickable; the first one isn't.)

Looks as if the flock has gotten larger. There were a few hundred on Friday, but on Cali's video the line looks really long.

Amazing isn't it? Sooty shearwaters and surf scoters do this line feeding.

Thanks for the pictures.  :biggrin3

Wonder what is going on now? Cam was showing at least three white heads of eagles in trees in the distance. Intruders and struggle or something else? 4:41 PM approx curious minds want to know...lol

What you saw was actually just Mum & Dad, the trees were swaying as you probably noticed and was pouring rain, what looked like a 3rd head was the tail of one of them.  One of them did a "shuggle" probably because it was wet.
